{"id":1133,"date":"2012-04-22T19:16:36","date_gmt":"2012-04-23T00:16:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.alighaemi.com\/wp\/?p=1133"},"modified":"2012-04-22T19:16:36","modified_gmt":"2012-04-23T00:16:36","slug":"leadership-and-stereotypes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.alighaemi.com\/wp\/?p=1133","title":{"rendered":"Leadership And Stereotypes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Could one of the traits of a good leader be erasing and ignoring stereotypes?<\/p>\n<p>Not trying to espouse and pose a rhetorical question, but exploring the question.<\/p>\n<p>Can a good leader erase clich\u00e9s from his or her thought process and instead turn to assessment, listening, understanding, experiencing and learning instead?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Here are some:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Men are better executives.<\/li>\n<li>Men are more aggressive salespeople<\/li>\n<li>Immigrants do not do as well because they do not have local experience.<\/li>\n<li>People who work from home are lazing.<\/li>\n<li>&#8216;Command &amp; Control&#8217; gets better results than caring and accommodating.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The point is that these might be true for some people some of the time, but blanket statement and generalities are just that. A good leader listens and understands and draws conclusions based on information &#8211; not general and vague assumptions.<\/p>\n<p>And there goes one clich\u00e9 that needs to bite the dust: being cooperative and helpful detracts from the &#8216;executiveness&#8217; of a person!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Could one of the traits of a good leader be erasing and ignoring stereotypes?
